New Delhi: CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury left for Srinagar to meet his party leader and former MLA, Yousuf Tarigami on Thursday morning.

Before leaving for Srinagar, Yechury stated that Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik's remark on Wednesday against Congress is not acceptable.

"The office of the Governor is not supposed to be usedfor such comments. In a democracy, everybody has a right to have their opinion. That`s their fundamental right and that is the right of their liberty. And ifthat is attacked in this manner by somebody who is occupying the office of aGovernor, that is something which is not acceptable," Yechury was quotedas saying by news agency ANI at the Delhi Airport.Meanwhile, mobile phoneservices, which were snapped across Jammu and Kashmir since August 5, resumedin five districts of Jammu region - Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, Rajouri and Poonch.Whileaddressing media in Srinagar on Wednesday, Governor Malik had said, "TheCongress party has not cleared its stand on Jammu and Kashmir so far. In thecoming elections, its competitors need not say anything. They will just callCongress leaders the supporters of Article 370 and then people will beat themwith shoes."

Malik also slammed former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi sayinghe behaved like a "political juvenile" over the abrogation of Article370, which led Pakistan to use his comments at the UN.Addressing reporters,Malik said, "I don`t want to speak for Rahul Gandhi as he comes from arespected family. But today, he behaved like a political juvenile. Pakistan inits letter to UN mentioned his comments. He should not have done that"

The Governor said that Gandhi should have spoken on Article370 on the day when one of his party leaders speaking in the Lok Sabhamentioned United Nation with Kashmir. "If he was a leader, he should havescolded his party colleague and then told him the party's stand onKashmir," he said.

The Supreme Court had on Wednesday allowed Yechury to visitJammu and Kashmir and meet Tarigami. The top court, however, said that the Leftleader's visit should only be to meet Tarigami as a friend and not for anypolitical purpose.

On August 24, Yechury had filed a habeas corpus petition inthe apex court for protection of Tarigami, who is allegedly under detention inJammu and Kashmir since the Centre abrogated provisions of Article 370.

Tarigami is a member of the Central Committee of the CPI(M)and has served as a four-time MLA of the dissolved Jammu and Kashmir Assembly.Thewrit petition was filed under Article 32 of the Constitution, according to astatement by the CPI(M).
